Relation-Ship (Continued)

Remember, we are talking about relationships. God, the Father, wants relationship with you. Relationship was His purpose in bringing His own son to die on the cross, and sending the Holy Spirit. Relationship was the reason He built a new Heaven and a new Earth. God the Father wanted relationship with man. He wanted relationship with you. In all of the stories and ways that the Word can be preached, we cannot stop seeing His love for us. When you create God in your own likeness, you can be disappointed because you are just like man, and man is like God to you. But, when you understand that God is not like man, then you can see God from a whole new perspective. And, disappointments are not the end, but are just part of the journey.

Disappointments are appointments. God has never wasted a single hurt that He’s allowed to come in your life. We love Him because He’s Abba. He’s your Father. He’s God. I don’t love Him because He did something for me. God is so into relationships that they are the reason for everything He does. Relationship with man is what God is after above all other things. John 15:15 “No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you.” Isn’t it wonderful that He calls us friends?

1 John 1:3, “What we have seen and heard, we are also telling you, so that you too may realize
and enjoy fellowship as partners and partakers with us.” Do you know what brings people to repentance? It’s the goodness of God that draws somebody, melts them and breaks their heart, and makes them want to run toward a father that has his hands out. I remember being in a store and this little girl had lost her mommy. Her face was one of panic! She was looking all around for her. I was tall and could see, so I called out to the mom. The little girl ran to her and hugged her neck and she was safe. The goodness of God puts us in this place to say, “Oh God! Where are you? I am lost! Are you somewhere?” Then, all of a sudden, God takes the scales off of our eyes and we’re like the little girl. We see Abba, and we run! Because, we know He loves us.

The word relationship has many words that can be derived from it, but the most amazing to me is the two words: ‘relation’ and ‘ship’. Because I chose to start with the Titanic, you’ll understand the message. Relation+Ship is an important way to see how we have this relating that’s in a ship. A ship moves on water, which is a type of the Holy Spirit. The ship moves on the water and causes us to overcome circumstances that would normally drown us and cause us to lose sight of what can happen. But, because of the ship we’re in, we get to stay safe. Relationships are either destroyed or nurtured by the situations we go through. Sometimes it’s up to you on how you view the circumstance. I’m going to show you what Jesus did.
