2 Cor. 9:8, “And God is able to bless you abundantly so that in all things, at all times, having all that you need you will abound in every good work, as it is written.”  Thank you, Lord, that I’ll have an abundance in all things and at all times, having all that I need. That covers all the bases! It says, “They had freely scattered their gifts to the poor and their righteousness endures forever… You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.”

That’s why these grown military men of previous wars (who have received houses for the last three years), would stand together and weep and shout and rejoice. It’s because the generosity of God’s people caused them to swell up and give thanksgiving to God.

Verse 12 says, “This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, others will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else.”

That’s powerful! There are people praying for you and for this church that would have never prayed for you before. They’re praying for you now because of what has happened to their kids when they went home. There are moms and dads who have called you blessed, today. There are moms and dads who have said in their prayer time, “Thank God for that church where my kids could get saved and get a hold of God.” Today, you’ve got more prayer on you than you’ve had in a long time! You’ve got people in the city and people who are recipients of the houses, praising and thanking God, and praying to God about the goodness of God in your life. That ought to make you happy!

The Bible says that when they see your good works they will glorify God. Verse 15 says, “Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift.” God has given an indescribable gift. A gift of hospitality. A gift of generosity.
