For Such A Time As This

Let’s look at Esther 4:13-16. Esther makes the statement, “If I perish, I perish.” That’s radical Christianity, isn’t it? “I’m putting it all on the line.” We live in a time in America of a post-Christian era, and it doesn’t take supernatural insight to conclude that. There are very few absolutes or solid convictions. The basic Judeo Christian foundation in this nation has been replaced by an emerging, pleasure oriented society. It’s kind of a “Thank God it’s Friday” pagan generation, that is biblically illiterate. They don’t even own a Bible, and if they do, they never read it. We’ve got a pagan generation, and it’s obvious they have a God shaped vacuum in their lives. Consequently, they’re looking for something supernaturally beyond themselves. Beyond their skepticism. Beyond their unbelief. Beyond their distrust of organized religion.

In California, we have websites of psychic phenomena, and there are 18,000 hits a day. They say that many of the hits are by former Christians, because they haven’t heard the Word of God in their churches for so long. There’s no prophet in the pulpit. They haven’t heard from God, so they go to the psychics. Isn’t it interesting that, while the church is backing off on the supernatural in many places, the box office in Hollywood makes their best money off of movies that have something of the supernatural in them? We’ve got to believe for the supernatural power of God to come back to the House of the Lord, and come back to the believer, and see God do some wonderful things. There’s a generation that we are called to reach, out there. They’re not spiritually domesticated. They’re going to come and they’re going to be weird, but God’s going to touch them.
God wants to visit this house. There’s a fresh new wave of God’s’ presence that’s going to come, and there’s a fresh new generation that God’s going to bring into this place. God’s going to break through upon you. If you’re ready say, “God, we’re ready for the Kingdom to come!” These people are searching for something real and authentic. They want to be a part of something, but they don’t know what it even looks like. But, God is never caught off guard! He’s never unprepared. He’s never uninformed. He’s never unknowledgeable in dealing with the prevailing deceptiveness of the enemy. He’s always had a church within a church.
