Allegiance & Loyalty | Bishop Bart Pierce
What does it truly mean to be loyal -- not just to people we love, but to God himself? This message cuts straight to the heart of one of the most pressing spiritual challenges of our time.
Drawing from Mark 8:34, we are confronted with the radical call to deny ourselves, take up our cross, and follow Jesus -- not occasionally, not when it is convenient, but as a total and irreversible commitment.
The word commitment, as Webster defines it, is a decision that cannot be reversed. That definition alone is enough to make us pause and examine how we have been living. We live in a culture that has made disloyalty into a habit -- in marriages, in workplaces, in churches, and in our walk with God. But Scripture is clear: God himself models perfect loyalty through his covenant faithfulness, the Hebrew concept of chesed, which speaks of a love that does not waver, does not quit, and does not look for an exit.
The question this message places before us is simple but sobering -- are we truly loyal to the King, or have we been treating our commitment to God as something we can pick up and put down depending on how we feel?
This is an invitation to examine the condition of our hearts and make a decision that cannot be reversed.
