In this walk of faith we must look at our Father of Faith to understand that the God of glory does call, and to learn how to respond when He calls. I’m going to work my way back through this portion of scripture because there are some things that I want to highlight out of it. Let’s go back to chapter 12:1 where it says, “Now the Lord had said to Abram, ‘Get out of your country.’” God was telling him to get out of his surroundings and his family and father’s house to a land that He would show him. Then, in verse 2, God begins to reveal what we call the “Abrahamic Covenant” – seven blessings that God was going to release through and over Abraham.
- I’m going to make you a great nation.
- I’m going to bless you.
- I’m going to make your name great.
- You shall be a blessing.
- I will bless those who bless you.
- I will curse him who curses you.
- In you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.
In response to this it says, “So, Abraham departed as the Lord had spoken to him.”
