I have to remind myself of something all the time…to be present in the moment. Often my mind will go other places because I have a business and I have a church. We have a new building. I have Joshua House. All these different things, but it’s important to be thankful. Especially in this season. It’s important to be present in the moment. I have two daughters who are about to graduate from high school and I need to be present in the moment. I have kids that are growing up and look at me and say, “Dad, I love you.” I’ve got to embrace those moments. I’m thankful.
I’m thankful for this past November. There’s a lot of good things that happened. We celebrated the purchase of the Brownstone building. Then, on November 22nd I got to celebrate 21 years of ministry. That’s also the day our son’s football team won the district championship. Yeah, there’s something good about that day. I’m thankful for my business because I’ve seen incredible increase.
I want to share a story with you about sowing and reaping. Come with me on my story. It’s a bit of a timeline, but its’ about sowing and reaping. There’s only one way that you reap or that you have a return and that’s when sowing seed. Sowing seed. Back in February of this year I felt impressed that I needed to sow into the building fund, personally. I own a commercial cleaning business and have been in it about a year and a half. It’s not gigantic by any means, but I felt that God put it on my heart, like He was pressing me and I knew it was God. Immediately the accuser was saying, “No. You don’t have it. You can’t do that.”
God told me I needed to give one thousand dollars a month toward the building. I needed to lead the way. I needed to lead the charge. But, I didn’t have that surplus as a business. Now, remember I’ve got six kids and four of them go to private school. I’m dishing out some money here, and all those things. I said, “Lord, I want to do this. I’m going to do it. But, I need some more contracts.”
Things in the natural may scare you but that’s where you’ve got to hold on to the Spirit. The things that have been seen in the Spirit have to give birth in the Spirit, and have to come forth in the Spirit.
