The prophetic word has come saying to bring the sick. Healing can happen when we all believe. Matthew, Mark and Luke are called the synoptic gospels because they are similar. So, you’ll find similar stories that run throughout those gospels. We’re going to take two portions of the story out of two separate books. It’s the story of Jesus preaching in a house. Mark 2:1, “And again He entered Capernaum after some days, and it was heard that He was in the house. Immediately many gathered together, so that there was no longer room to receive them, not even near the door.” There must’ve been some good preaching, because it filled up the house and people couldn’t even get in. He preached the Word to them. Now, a lot of times you’ll hear that Jesus taught them, but not often do you hear that Jesus preached to a group.
Let’s jump over to Luke 5:17. It says, “Now it happened on a certain day, as He was teaching, that there were Pharisees and teachers sitting by, who had come out of every town…” So, Jesus was preaching to the establishment. And, it says that the power of the Lord was present to heal. Anytime Jesus is preaching, we’re about to have a reaction! When the Word speaks the Word, you get a reaction, and the presence of the Lord walks in the room. It says that four men brought a man on a bed who was paralyzed. We don’t know their names, but there were four dudes carrying their friend, who’d been in this condition for years. This may be the one opportunity for something to get changed in his life. So, when they couldn’t find a way to bring him in, they went up on the housetop. I don’t know how they did that. Were there pulleys and wedges? All I know is, you’re serious about getting somebody healed when you’re ready to take a man in a bed up on the roof. You’re serious about getting someone healed when you start tearing up that roof. I don’t know who owned that house, but they went up there and let him down through the roof.
Jesus is in there, and all of a sudden, out of the sky comes a bed. Jesus might’ve been right in the crux of his message. That’s what I love about the Lord. Someone just wants to jump in and interrupt, but it’s in the realm of what the Father is doing. So, Jesus just slid on into it. Jesus said, “That which I see my Father do in Heaven…” Jesus was saying, “I live by divine imagery.” So, if the Father wants to interrupt my plan with a better plan, I’ll go along with His better plan.
We’ve gotten too rigid and too still in the House of God. When you come to the House, you just come to hear a word. You need to come to the House to hear a revelation of who He is. Then, after you hear the revelation, He wants to be a participation of what’s going on, and in anticipation of what He will do, you should have expectation that your life will be transformed in a moment, and in the twinkling of an eye. I told you today, I came to preach!
Luke 5:20 says, “When He saw their faith…” We are not in this House as individuals, today. It is the Body of Christ. And, we are the cells in the Body. When cells are not in agreement in the body, it produces cancer. But, when cells are in agreement, it produces healing and health. Say today, “Whatever you need in God, I’m in agreement with you today.” When He saw their faith, He said, “Man, your sins are forgiven.” The religious leaders questioned him, saying, “Who is this that speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?” Jesus was being very clear. He was saying, “I’m God.” Jesus did speak in parables, but sometimes He was very straight and direct. He asked why they were reasoning in their hearts? “Which is easier to say? Your sins are forgiven, or to say, Rise up and walk. But, that you may know that the Son of Man has power to forgive sins.” And, He told the paralyzed man to rise up, take up his bed, and go to his house.
In Jesus’ ministry, they never questioned his ability to heal. They only questioned his ability to forgive sins. Today, we don’t question his ability to forgive sins, we question His ability to heal.
