God the Father and the man are hanging out in the cool of the garden. God made a cool garden for man to hang out in. It was his ‘hood’. God called it ‘delight’. When you delight in something, you want to be in there. You want to be around it and partake of it. God makes this garden and sets man in it, but somebody is missing. He gave him two trees, and tells him in verse 16 that he may freely eat of every tree in the garden.
Verse 17 says, “But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, blessing and calamity, you shall not eat. For the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.” Notice, somebody wasn’t there. She hasn’t been made yet. So, don’t ever hang ‘it’ on the woman, because God didn’t tell the woman not to eat it, He told the man. He said, “Hey, son. Don’t you touch that tree in the middle, because the minute you eat it, you’re going to die.” That’s heavy! But, notice this. He told man that he could eat of he other tree – the Tree of Life.
Man could have eaten the Tree of Life and he would never have wanted anything else from that day forward! But, you see, Adam messed up the whole thing. Adam wanted the wrong tree, because he wanted knowledge. How many people are in the church, today, and they’re as unsaved as they can get. They have no clue where God is. They trust in the intellect of their mind, and they have yet to experience the Tree of Life, which won’t allow you to enter with your mind. It must be entered by your heart. And, when you love with your heart the Tree of Life, then you don’t care about what your brain says.
