The Motive is Everything

2 Corinthians 5:10 AMP, “For we [believers will be called to account and] must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be repaid for what has been done in the body, whether good or bad [that is, each will be held responsible for his actions, purposes, goals, motives—the use or misuse of his time, opportunities and abilities].”

This is in the Bible. It’s like it comes right down to where you are today and can see you in the living room. He sees! We believers will be called to account! That’s pretty powerful, isn’t it? Proverbs 16:2 says, “All the ways of man are clean and innocent in his own eyes (and he may see nothing wrong with his actions), but the Lord weighs and examines the motives and intents (of the heart and knows the truth).”

I’m so glad God knows the truth. And, I’m so glad he weighs the motives and intents of our hearts because that helps us. If we didn’t have the Bible that told us this, we would walk every which way. We’d think we could do whatever we want to whenever we want to, according to our own liking. But, God sees and he knows the motives and intents of our hearts.  So, when he sees us tripping and getting back up and getting back on and walking and saying, “Please forgive me, Lord, I shouldn’t have done this or said that.”  “I shouldn’t have let those people down because I didn’t follow through.”  He is there. He is always there to hear. He examines and he knows the truth. He is always willing to give us a helping hand so we can get back up and keep on going on this straight and narrow path that we’re on.

We will continue on Friday! Have a great week!
